Riesling: Arguably one of the greatest grape varieties in the world. The grape can range from bone dry to sweet, reveal aromas/flavours of lime, apricot, honey, slate and petrol (to name a few) and age gracefully for decades. It finds it’s home along the Moselle river, which begins in France and flows into Germany where it twists sharply for 250 km and deposits into the Rhine on its way to the North Sea. It is along this winding river gorge that we find the most classic Riesling wines in the world. I arrived eager to get up close and personal with Riesling’s crafted in this area, but left feeling I only scratched the tip of the iceberg. Read more….
