Todays wine is a Carramimbre 2009 Crianza from Ribera del Duero.
Made from 90% Tempranillo grapes, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French Oak for 12 months, this is first Ribera del Duero wine I’ve tried since arriving in San Sebastian that is not made from 100% Tempranillo and is also concidentally the least bold. It doesn’t have the same striking taste as the others and the after taste is with light tannins.
View: Dark cherry color
Nose: Aromas of spices (cinnamon, mint, peppermint) with hints of vanilla
Taste: Aside from strong initial taste, the following body and aftertaste are consistent and even.
A bit softer than the QS2 Sardonia 2009 and easier to drink on it’s own, it’s non-offensive but also non-memorable for me.
